CT College Planning assists young adults through the important transition of entering the workforce. Whether you are transitioning into the workforce for the first time or just need resume and interview preparation support, we can help you plan for the future.
Our Career Exploration Program offers individual career planning services to college seniors and new graduates on an hourly basis. We are also available to assist any individual who wishes to explore workforce re-entry and career shifts or those who simply need career advice.
Transition from College to Workforce
We know entering the workforce for the first time can be just as daunting as planning for college. We will help you identify your strengths and ideal work environment, develop action plans and goals, and demonstrate your unique gifts to employers.
You will begin by taking the College and Career Impact Report Assessment. Once completed, we will schedule a one-hour meeting with a licensed DISC Certified Behavioral Trainer to discuss the assessment results.
Along with the assessment results, we will review your prior academic performance, accomplishments, skills and career interests. We will provide advice on how to approach the application and hiring process and help you identify how best to demonstrate your unique talents and accomplishments.
Career Exploration and Identification
Similar to the process for developing a college list or deciding on a major, we will help you explore career paths and identify potential employers. We know that a career search is not one-size-fits all, which is why our services are personalized to help achieve your unique dreams and aspirations.
The resources we utilize to aid in your search will be determined by where you are in your career journey, but may include:
- Assessment results and self-discovery
- Previous work history, academic performance and accomplishments
- Career interests, strengths and skills, specialized or unique qualifications and certifications
- Financial and geographic considerations
We will also provide advice on what information to consider while researching, how best to approach the application / hiring process, and emphasize your most distinctive skills and accomplishments.
Resume Development Services
Whether you are starting from scratch or just need a fresh look, we can help you develop a compelling resume that hiring managers will notice.
For individuals new to the workforce, we will help you build one completed resume by assembling your previous academic performance and accomplishments, civic activities, career interests, strengths and skills. We will also provide advice on how to identify and emphasize your value proposition in a resume.
For those with existing experience, we will provide a comprehensive review of one completed resume of your choice. Our review will include:
- A review of your resume structure (format, grammar, spelling and punctuation)
- A review of your resume content (fluency, transitions and supporting details)
- Advice on how to demonstrate your value proposition in the most compelling manner

We will provide advice on how to research market trends and company insights, learn exactly what recruiters and hiring managers are looking for, and prepare to ace the interview. Services include:
